The Terrorist Attack Took Place In Peshawar, Pakistan , 09.10.2009

The terrorist attack that took place today (9 October 2009) in the city of Peshawar in Pakistan, which according to initial reports claimed the lives of 49 and injured 100, has caused deep sorrow and concern. Terrorism is a crime against humanity. This abhorrent attack which indiscriminately killed women, children and the elderly in a marketplace demonstrates the brutality of terrorism. Turkey strongly condemns the attack, wishes God’s mercy upon those who lost their lives and swift recovery to the wounded and extends her condolences to the families of the victims.

Considering terrorism a common enemy of the humankind, Turkey acts in complete solidarity with the friendly and brotherly Pakistani people and government. Turkey believes in the necessity for concerted efforts by the international community to eliminate terrorism and violence in the region.

On this sad occasion, Turkey once more reiterates that she will continue to do her utmost to provide support aimed at maintaining peace, prosperity and security of the brotherly Pakistani people.
