Press Release Regarding The Attacks In Nigeria , 12.03.2010

Turkey deeply regrets the attacks that occurred in 7 March 2010 near the city of Jos in Nigeria in which hundreds of people, including women and children are reported to lost their lives and injured.

It is particularly worrisome that the ethnic conflict between Nigerian Muslims and Christians emanating from representation in local government and resource sharing has the tendency to transform to a religion-based conflict.

Turkey, with the earnest desire for the cessation of the conflict in the shortest time possible, shares the grief of the friendly and brotherly people and state of Nigeria and wishes condolences to the relatives of those who lost their lives and early recovery to those who were injured in the attacks.
