Press Release Regarding The Attack Perpetrated Against Afghan Presidential Candidate Abdullah Abdullah's Convoy , 05.06.2014

No: 188, 6 June 2014

We were saddened by the news that a bomb attack was perpetrated against the convoy of Afghan presidential candidate Abdullah Abdullah while he was leaving the hotel where he was campaigning, causing loss of life and injuries, including among his bodyguards.

We condemn this attack targeting the peace and stability of Afghanistan, which is going through a critical democratic process, and perpetrated at a time when the people of Afghanistan prepares to elect their new President. We wish God's mercy upon those who lost their lives, express our condolences to their families and hope for a speedy recovery of the wounded.

On this occasion, we reiterate our conviction that such heinous terrorist acts will not succeed in impeding the Peace and Reconciliation Process in Afghanistan and stress once again that Turkey will always maintain its solidarity with friendly and brotherly Afghanistan.
